Pawns can only be promoted to captured tier 1 strategy pieces and Royal Pawns. Royal Pawns can be promoted to any captured tier 1 or tier 2 piece. Pawns can double promote to a tier 2 piece by sacrificing a move in order to promote to a captured royal pawn, then promote to a captured tier 2 piece.
